Happy Tuesday, Calgary. 🏠

Lots to get into this week, so grab your coffee and let's go.

In today's edition:

  • Your May property tax bill is coming - here's what's actually in it

  • The blanket rezoning repeal passed. What it means for your street

  • Noble Pie. Worth booking this weekend?

💰 Your May Property Tax Bill

Your tax bill arrives in May. Before you open it, read this.

When it lands in your mailbox, most Calgary homeowners will see the total and assume the city raised their taxes again. They'd be wrong.

For a typical home assessed at $706,000, the total annual increase works out to about $390. But only $49 of that comes from the city. The other $338 comes from the province. That's 87% of your increase, driven entirely by Alberta's budget.

The bill won't break this down clearly. Now you know who's actually responsible. Payment is due June 30 for lump-sum payers.

🏘️ Rezoning Repeal: What It Means For Your Street

The blanket rezoning is gone. Here's what changes on your street.

Council voted 12-3 on April 8 to repeal the policy that since 2024 allowed rowhouses and fourplexes on single-family lots citywide. The repeal takes effect August 4.

After that date, most residential lots revert to their previous zoning. Whether that's a relief or a setback depends on where you stand - but either way, it affects your street.

🍕 Noble Pie - Worth It?

The best pizza in Calgary is hiding behind a back alley entrance. Seriously.

Noble Pie sits at 720 11 Ave SW, and you'll find it through a back alley door - which somehow makes it better. 4.8 stars across 1,346 Google reviews. The hot honey slice and the Sweet Cheesus are what people keep coming back for.

No reservations, opens at 4pm Wednesday through Sunday. Budget $20-30 a head.

Worth it for date night. Not ideal for a 6-year-old who wants plain cheese.
